Copper is beautiful in any way, but especially when it's shiny and polished. To clean your copper utensil, all you need are two small ingredients that you probably have at home: lemon and salt.
The best way to clean copper is with lemon and salt!
Lemon and salt are a perfect combination for cleaning copper and removing the dull, worn finish from copper pans. Simply add salt to a lemon cut in half and rub the copper surface with the lemon.
Materials needed:
- Fresh lemons
- Salt
- Soft cloth
- Bowl
Steps:
1. Preparation of materials: Take a fresh lemon and cut it in half. Put a little salt in a bowl (if you prefer the paste mixture).
2. Cleaning preparation: Squeeze the lemon into the bowl with the salt and mix until it forms a paste, on the other hand, you can put the salt directly on half the lemon (this method is not as effective on stubborn stains).
3. Cleaning the copper: Apply the paste to the cut side of the lemon with a spoon and rub it directly onto the copper surface.
4. Removing difficult stains: For stubborn stains, leave the paste on the surface for about half an hour. Scrub periodically to help remove the stains.
5. Finalization: After scrubbing, rinse the copper thoroughly with lukewarm water. Dry with a soft cloth to avoid water stains.
Beware of lacquered copper:
This method is not suitable for lacquered copper. If the surface of the copper pan has a shiny, glossy finish that doesn't change color or turn brown with use, it is most likely lacquered copper.
Other alternatives:
- If you don't have lemons, you can use white vinegar as a substitute.
- If you prefer store products, “Metal Cleaner Heart” is just the thing.
- Avoid products such as ketchup, which may not be as effective and may leave a residue.
With this simple method, you can keep your copper utensils shiny and beautiful with little effort and the ingredients you have at home.
